It’s been a year since Lockdown 1 was announced in India. With all the outlandish gibberish it has thrown at us, it was no one’s favorite year.
Just like everyone else, every Recruiter too had a fair share “Whaaaaaaat?” moments in 2020.
Yes, we all know how bad this past year has been for us, but it also gave us (well, most of us) the opportunity to stay back at home with loved ones and relax.
This has been a bittersweet ride, but I think all of us are doing better than we give ourselves credit for!
Let’s take a walk down every Recruiter’s Memory Lane. Try to (or not to) relive this journey.
The nation went into complete 21-day lockdown on 25th March 2020.
Lockdown-I meant compulsory WFH for three weeks!
Didn’t we all just love the idea?
The idea that once seemed like such a blessing in disguise, soon became unbearable and everyone missed their old life outside the home.
We wanted to step out and somehow missed the chaos, but were trapped inside!
Get me out of here!
For all the Introverts among us, didn’t this alone time – away from excess human interaction – feel like paradise?
And for all the people-loving extroverts among us, was it just me or you too were going CRAZY?
I can’t work like this
And of course, there was the added benefit of more family time. But didn’t it sometimes make it difficult for you to work? (nobody’s judging!)
Instead of handling the team members, you now had to manage them instead.
The digital transformation of Recruitment through COVID-19 and beyond is what all of us have cherished. But it meant more social media presence, more content creation, and more video ads!
When you realized you now had to create job ad videos
They said that digital recruitment was bound to be quicker, but weren’t candidates being at home and thus answering your calls during work hours an added bonus?
Didn’t you just love it when the sourcing-screening-interviewing phases all consumed much less time now?
Angel in the sky
WFH for all also meant candidates that you had to let go of due to compulsory relocation, were now free to work anywhere and from anywhere. It made your job as a recruiter a lot simpler, right?
The companies had finally embraced remote work and you could cast a wider net for your search!
Jackpot! The hidden treasure
Well, all the GIFs above showcase what we all faced at a time, but what about now?
Doesn’t this feel like the end of an era, but still, somehow we aren’t really sure how to let go?
Maybe not all of you guys feel this way, but my current mood is ‘dogs who are stuck but pretending everything to be fine’
