Recruiting the right people for your business is important no matter which field of work you’re in. But sourcing and hiring the top talents can be tricky.
The top talents are always in high demand and can come and go in the blink of an eye. These candidates are often waiting for multiple offer letters and may go far from reach if you don’t act swiftly. This means that your company must be quick and efficient in hiring these rare ones.
Want to know how to do good recruiting? Here are 4 tips on how to improve your recruiting efforts and make the process more efficient.
- Draft a clear and precise job description
If you can clearly tell the candidates what it is that you’re looking for, the skills, the exposure, and the knowledge – it would save you a lot of time and effort.
If you’re not clear about what you’re searching for, then you’re bound to be slow in identifying who’ll be good for that position, and this time can cost you the good candidates.
So spend a little extra time to draft that perfect job description. It should be charming enough to attract the good candidates and precise enough to appeal only to the right candidates.
- Tap into your social networks
The conventional methods of recruitment commonly take more time than social media recruitment.
The speed at which information travels online is amazing. Job candidates and recruiters can interact with one another in a quicker, easier, and less formal way. Job vacancies can be filled rapidly; this means the time-to-hire would be lower and isn’t that something we desire?
Social Media screening gives you insights into the candidate’s personality and what to expect once you hire them. This information helps you to shortlist candidates in a more valuable way.
- Be judicious while picking whom to interview
Before making the interviewees list, thoroughly check every candidate’s resume and eliminate anyone who doesn’t have your must-haves.
Interviewing a candidate can be a time consuming work and so only the best candidates should make it to that list.
By having a rigorous resume screening step, you can save hours that would have been wasted otherwise.
- Ask good questions
Now that you’ve created a short list of candidates you want to interview, make sure you know what to ask them. You need to ask the right questions.
These ‘right’ questions differ from one company to another, and from one position to another. What you ask a Dot Net Developer would be entirely different from what you’d ask a Business Analyst or someone from the Marketing team.
You need to prepare a list of relevant questions that help you identify the right candidate. You don’t need to ask quizzers or brain teasers unless the vacancy in hand demands those skills.
Try to ask questions that tell you if the candidate is a good cultural fit and if he/she is good at the skills that you’re looking for.
These tips and tricks will help you reduce your time to recruit and fulfill the company’s hiring needs more efficiently.
